Complete Audiological Evaluation and Assessment
A hearing assessment is a set of tests which will be performed by a licensed and board certified audiologist in order to determine your level of hearing impairment. A hearing assessment is the first step in the treatment for hearing loss as it gives us a baseline to tailor your treatment to your individual hearing loss and needs.
The hearing assessment includes:
- Otoscopic Examination: we will take a close look inside of your ear to determine if your hearing difficulties could be caused by an obstruction in the ear canal
- Tympanometry: this assessment measures your middle ear function and its important structures to determine how these structures react to varying degrees of air pressure
- Pure Tone Testing: this assessment uses a range of low and high frequency tones to plot your hearing based on pitch level and loudness level
- Speech Audiometry: this assessment determines your ability to understand verbiage in a conversation in both quiet and noisy environments
Each set of tests will be targeted to specific areas of the ear and the results will be documented on an audiogram to map out the type, degree and configuration of your hearing loss. The assessment will help determine your exact areas of difficulty and allow us to tailor a treatment plan to your unique hearing loss, needs and lifestyle.
Tinnitus Evaluation and Management
Tinnitus is described as a ringing in the ear, and can range in severity. A tinnitus evaluation can help you identify how much tinnitus interferes with your daily life and if there are treatment options that can benefit you.
